A Voice for EVERY FAMILY. Labor leader, parent, lifetime resident of the East Bay.
Meet Liz.
For over two decades, Assemblymember and California Labor Leader Liz Ortega-Toro has led the fight for safe, healthy, and diverse communities by working to create job opportunities and provide healthcare, housing, and safe neighborhoods for every family.
As Statewide Political Director for AFSCME Local 3299, the University of California’s largest employee union, Liz secured the passage of state legislation to maintain and protect essential service jobs at every UC campus. The first Latina in history to be elected Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Alameda Labor Council, Liz has been an East Bay leader in the fight for an equitable minimum wage to support working families as housing and the cost of living have skyrocketed in our region.
Liz lives in San Leandro with her family and their dog, Noah.
